Dana Michelle Cook
Dana Michelle Cook (she/her) has spent the last 18 years working as a television, film, and documentary Producer, earning both Emmy and Gracie Awards for her work. Sharing time between Chicago and Los Angeles, she's created original content for scripted and unscripted series, television shows, agencies, live events, nonprofits, and digital platforms. She's most recently produced for The Obama Foundation, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and traveled with Oprah to produce on her cross-country WW 2020 Vision Tour.
As a documentary filmmaker, Dana has served as Co-creator and Producer of the documentary The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, inspiring thousands of young women across the US to find their voices and become leaders of their lives. Traveling with the film on two national tours, she has sparked conversations at schools and women’s organizations, and has been featured on Good Morning America, Forbes and Marie Claire. The film has gone on to screen globally over 2,000 times in more than 20 countries including Russia, Haiti, New Zealand, Brazil and Nigeria.
She currently serves as Co-Founder of Freeheart Creative and Producer of the documentary series, Seeing Brave created to shine light on global female leaders mobilizing communities in Kenya, Rwanda, Haiti, Syria, and beyond.
In addition to calling Chicago home, Dana has also lived in Spain and Argentina. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara she has also worked at MTV, Montecito Picture Company with Director Ivan Reitman and boutique agency Creative Entertainment Services. There, she managed branded content for network shows and films for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Paramount Studios.
