Juily Manghirmalani
Juily (she/her) is a Brazilian of South-Asian origin and part of the LGBTQIAP+ community. She is a media and TV producer, human rights activist, and psychology student. Juily graduated in Media and Film (Senac, 2008) and has a master's degree in Image and Sound (UFSCAR, 2014), she works in multiple areas of Media and Film, focusing on the art and direction sectors. She has been in major projects for television and film, as well as music videos and documentaries. As a filmmaker, she is responsible for the direction of “Leve-me Pra Sair”, the winning web series of the 2012 ProAC-Manifestações LGBT competition, “Viver de Mim”; documentary winner of the Carmen Santos - Women's Cinema of the Ministry of Culture; and in music videos, she is part of the duo Theremin in which she co-directed Alaska Thunderfuck's "Come to Brazil" (2017), Jaloo's "Céu Azul" (2018), and Mateus Carrilho's "Sonzeira" (2018). In academic research, her areas of interest are the intersection between cinema, gender, and human rights.
Since 2010, Juily has been engaged in feminist projects of social change. Within activist movements, she is moved by debates of gender, race, sexuality and immigration processes. On that, she was one of the co-administrators of one of the largest platforms of Asian feminism in Brazil, "Plataforma Lotus", working in the vocalization and empowerment of women of Asian-Brazilian origin in the contemporary feminist movement.
She is currently a BA student of Psychology (UNICSUL) and will pursue academic research and clinical practice composed of concerns such as sexuality, feminism, and issues related to immigrant subjects and their descendants. In 2022, she undertook IC training with IPA and started working as an intimacy coordinator for unscripted projects, specifically for Amazon's reality TV show "Soltos em Salvador", seasons 3 and 4.
