Kaja Wesolek

Kaja (she/her) is an intimacy coordinator based in Warsaw, Poland, with deep roots in the creative arts and psychology. Her artistic journey started with contemporary dance theater at Art Station and acting at the National Theatre in Warsaw. Her academic pursuit of a second passion, psychology, at the University of Warsaw led to a master’s degree and a specialization in cognitive-behavioral therapy, enhancing her insight into emotional dynamics. Kaja’s unique career path evolved from being a therapist to film casting consultant to an acting coach for children, focusing on maintaining the emotional health of young actors in challenging roles, including those with themes of war and violence.

She introduced intimacy coordination to Poland in 2020 on the Netflix series Sexify. Her role has since expanded, orchestrating over 200 intimate scenes in diverse productions like Raven 3 (Canal+), Forst (Netflix), Absolute Beginners (Netflix), #Bring Back Alice (HBO), 1670 (Netflix), and Klara (Warner Bros. Discovery). She continuously develops new techniques for intimacy coordination and choreography, adapting them for Polish cultural sensibilities.

As the co-founder of Intimacy Duo Intimacy Coordination and Workshop Studio alongside Marta A. Zygadlo, Kaja champions a conscious engagement in the creative process. Their methodology is grounded in a sense of safety, boundary exploration, and open and Non-Violent Communication. As Intimacy Duo, she conducts workshops at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw and Warsaw Film School, training acting students, directors, screenwriters, and educators in the art of intimacy coordination. Her workshops extend beyond the film industry, addressing the importance of boundary-setting, contract negotiation, and effective communication in various professional environments.
