WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In this 4 hour workshop we will cover the fundamental difference between the key tantric paths and styles as well as debunk some myths, misconceptions, and common misunderstandings surrounding it.
The workshop will provide you a grounding in a brief history and progression of tantra from an ancient lineage steeped in spiritual practices and spiritual science to the reinvention and transformation that occurred when it was brought to the west and adapted to what is called neo-tantra today.
As an IC it is important to know the differences and characteristics of the different etiquette of the white, pink, and red tantric paths and how that relates for example to the left and right hand paths.. If this topic intrigues you and you would like to be more knowledgeable and valuable to productions that are featuring a tantric theme, scene, or storyline then this workshop will give you that ground.
The workshop is going to also be invaluable to those who wish to be part of a well researched portrayal of the nuanced aspects of consent, power balance, and the ethical responsibilities within tantra and sexuality. As a perfect follow up to Julian's last workshop on Embodied Consent, this workshop will go further into the role and responsibilities of group leaders and modern tantra practitioners based on the latest viewpoints from the world of embodied ethics and consent understandings. We will also delve into what to look out for and incorporate in the depiction of these topics on screen from both a good and pad practice perspective so as to best illustrate the varied expressions and levels of care present in this field.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
This workshop will be led by Julian Marcus (he/him). Alongside being a somatic sex educator, embodiment coach, and bodywork teacher for over 20 years, Julian worked parallel to this as a freelance producer/director for contracts that include channel manager and live television production photo and video projects with models, agents, and global clients. This work often included a need to negotiate consent, agreements, and intimacy scenes on set. Julian has worked as a photographer since 2001 in fashion, advertising, personal branding, and with publication and editorial work involving model agency castings. Julian combines the skills he has learned as a somatic educator with his digital media work to create a unique way of dialogue and making agreements that ensures a felt-sense of safety and clear embodied consent on the part of the talent.
Some of the modalities that Julian has trained in that inform his work include the Wheel of Consent, Body Poem, Sexological Bodywork, and Non-Violent Communication. Additionally, Julian holds a BSc. (Honors) in Therapeutic Bodywork, which included over 3,000 hours of supervised practice.
