LOCATION: Zoom
RECORDING AVAILABLE: A recording will be available for one week after the workshop to anyone who bought a ticket.
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
Any time a production includes potentially triggering content, cast members and crew alike can feel the impact emotionally and physically. While ICs are not mental health professionals, how we respond when an actor or member of the crew is triggered can impact their experience. Dr. shena’s training will deepen your knowledge of how trauma manifests mind-body-heart-spirit and offers tools/resourcing that Intimacy Professionals can apply on-set in real time to maintain healthy boundaries and responsibly offer care. The course includes:
General overview of trauma
Neurobiology of trauma
Holistic impact of trauma on the mind, body, heart, and spirit
Intro to trauma informed care principles
Discussion and Q&A exploring what this looks like in practice
TICKET PRICING
Tickets are available on a sliding scale at the following price points: $79, $119, and $149. We also have $50 tickets available for BIPOC individuals with financial need (please reach out to training@IPAinternational.org if you would like one of these tickets).
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. shena is a licensed body centered psychologist-healer. She works intimately with folks of the global majority and communities anchored in the pillars of remembrance, sovereignty, intuition, self-determination. she believes authenticity and personal truth are reliable pathways to liberation. She holds space internationally for individuals, couples, groups, creatives, and organizations who are committed to the ritual of becoming better versions of themselves. She owns a private practice and healing space, embodied truth healing and psychological services, rooted in Los Angeles, CA with an emphasis on mind-body-heart-spirit care. her approach to healing departs from the westernized blueprint in centering the body as the medicine, connection with nature, and indigenous wisdoms with a speciality in traumawork -- sexual, racial, intergenerational, and ancestral trauma in particular. She is most proud of her program, healing on the mat, a 10 week holistic and embodiment workshop series for BIWOC survivors of sexual trauma. Dr. shena is looking forward to the forthcoming release (2023) of her debut book, “body rites: an embodied healing journey for Black survivors of sexual trauma” to be published by WW Norton & Co.
